IrFUW - One Hundred Years of Inspiring Women: Legacy, Learning, Living
10.00 -13.00: Morning Session:
Prof. Mary Robinson, first woman President of Ireland, former UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, and a member of The Elders, in conversation with Elaine McGee, BBC.
Mid-morning Coffee Break
Panel discussions on topics such as cross border engagement, cultural identity, and generational shifts in how women view their role in society.
[Note:UWE and IrFUW delegates will be joined by an invited list of prominent, high achieving women in public and academic life in Northern Ireland]
13.00: Light lunch
14.00 - 16.00: Afternoon Session
Depart Queen’s University by coach for “Conference in Context” visit to Belfast key sites, narrated by Mark Devenport, journalist, broadcaster and commentator. History,politics,peace, art, architecture – the role of women at the centre of society.
16.00: Return to hotels to prepare for the evening
Saturday evening: Gala Dinner at Titanic Belfast
Gala Centenary Dinner.
Approx. Start time 19.00 - to be confirmed
Dine in style at Titanic Belfast, with beautiful views of Belfast Lough and the Slipways where the Titanic was designed, built and launched.
23.00: Finish
Sunday 27th April
Optional full day excursion to the North Coast of Co. Antrim, including the Giant’s Causeway. Morning departure time to be confirmed.

IrFUW Public Speaking Competition Final 2025
Ardilaun Hotel, Taylor’s Hill Road, Galway, H91 H29F Saturday, 22nd March 2025
As part of the IrFUW Centenary celebrations and as a tribute to the Galway founder of the competition, the late Mrs. Poppy Corbett of the Galway Association of Women Graduates (GAWG), the Final of the IrFUW Public Speaking Competition will take place in Galway on Saturday 22 March. The members of the Galway Association look forward to welcoming competitors, their teachers and supporters, and members of other IrFUW associations to the Ardilaun Hotel on that occasion.
IrFUW members and friends who plan to arrive in Galway on Friday 21 March will be welcome to join Galway Association members for an informal meal at Galway Golf Club, Salthill, at 6.30 p.m. that evening.
